We love Ewe
Step through the doors of Ewe Wool Shop on Stamford Walk, Stamford, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom and prepare to be inspired. This cosy shop is stuffed from floor to ceiling with yarns of every weight, texture and colour imaginable.
At Ewe wool shop we are addicted to wool and yarn we stock Cygnet, King Cole, Regia, Rowan, Sirdar Stylecraft, West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS) and lots more. We opened in 2011 and have continued to grow, we had to move to larger premises where we are today, and now we are online too. Ewe became a Flagship store for Rowan in 2016 and is the only one in the region.
Knitting is a great hobby; it’s relaxing, productive, it can be sociable if you get together with friends to do it (knit and natter) - and doesn’t take up much room, just a bag on your sofa. The yarns available today are so varied, with merino, cashmere, silk, cotton, alpaca – the list goes on – and it means you can create a unique item that you wouldn’t be able to buy on the high street.

If you have never visited the Market Town of Stamford in Lincolnshire then you are in for a real treat, it is beautiful with a real bustling feel to the place and some stunning buildings and fabulous shops to boot.
Nestled down a small alley way is Ewe Wool Shop, 11 Stamford Walk. The shop reflects the town well as it too is bustling and busy with friendly staff offering advice to knitters and crocheters alike. Ewe has recently become a Flagship store for Rowan yarns and we take a look at the journey so far…
Ewe was set up by Rachel in 2011 and a year later the shop moved to Stamford. Being a big Rowan fan from a young age, Rachel’s mother knitted her a cable skirt from the first Rowan Magazine and she has been a loyal fan ever since! She found that Rowan had always been the ‘go to’ yarn for classic staples and fashionable unusual yarns and so once the shop was established and Ewe moved to a larger shop, Rachel decided to stock the entire range to satisfy the many loyal customers as well as the many visitors that visit every year.
It’s such a friendly shop that customers chat to each other and have become friends after meeting in Ewe. Rachel, Marcia and Barbara (the Ewe team!) are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the yarns, and when buying from Ewe you can rest assured that if you need help with your project then help is at hand. In addition to hands on help, the team run regular workshops and seasonal launch events where you will be able to try on the garments and sample the yarns – watch this space!
